Welcome to the 2021 Spring Beach Studio Tour, our very first Virtual Tour. Thanks for dropping by! I don’t get to welcome you into my home and studio this year, but I’m excited to welcome you to my website instead.

​I’ve been busy working on new work since I last saw you. I’ve been inspired by the lake and have been working on a number of new landscapes. Seascapes, really. We’re blessed to live so close to the Great Lakes, such amazing bodies of water, so big and dramatic that I refer to them as the sea. That light that plays on and around water is inspiring and transformative. Every day it reveals something different in the landscape. I’ve been painting seascapes with pastels and with acrylic paint, and have been using some interesting techniques, blending traditional brushstroke with acrylic pours.

​That wonderful light can transform the tangible into the abstract as different elements of a scene are lit up or cast into shadow. That's been my inspiration for some new abstract work. I’ve been experimenting with the effects of that light, allowing my paintbrush to move more freely in response. I find that free flow of paint to be exhilarating, perhaps even therapeutic in these troubled times.

You’ll find a smaller version of that free flowing paint in my paint skin jewellery. I’ve captured the flow and movement of the paint on a tiny little canvas, each one a unique work of art. Choose one that inspires you and bring a little bit of art into your daily life.

​I continue to be fascinated by nature, plants, and flowers, and I have some new studies that express that. Spring is a time of hope and renewal. And while we still find ourselves in challenging times, that new growth, the emerging life in the garden, is a reminder of that renewal and a source of hope for better times around the corner.

​My photographs are a celebration of light. Big juicy splashes of light crashing across surfaces. Tiny keyholes of light squeezing past branches. They celebrate not only the beauty of nature but the uniqueness of the light at that very moment, and my Cloud Series is perhaps the purest celebration of that light as it bounces off those soft ethereal surfaces.
